We believe it is important that you hear from the recipients, participants, and volunteers of our annual efforts.
“These gifts will make all of the difference for the children in our care this year. It is a wonderful blessing to see the faces of children on Christmas morning who’ve never before opened a Christmas gift of their very own!” — Kris, foster mom/volunteer
“The best day of our year is the toy distribution day when we get to meet the foster families whose children will be opening these presents they might not otherwise have had on Christmas morning.” — Diane, toy coordinator
“We never expected that people who’ve never met us, could be so generous and caring. It’s hard to be a kid in foster care, but your help means a lot.” — Anthony, foster child, age 15
“I wish you could have seen the looks on our children’s faces on Christmas morning. Please thank the people who were so generous to our family.” — Kim, foster mom
“It’s been many many years since I’ve been hopeful about my finances being a Disabled Veteran dealing with Multiple Sclerosis. I have not worked in over 8 years so there is no extra money for any type of debt as I have a son. Since opening up and being honest with Juanita she shared with me some honest truths and advice that has put a spring in my step and gave me a new motivation to make changes. I’ve already started changing some of my spending habits and “cutting the fat” with several of my expenses.” I can look forward to my financial future. Listen to her because she has overcome many of the things she is teaching.” — Jennifer, mom with minor child
“Working with Juanita was such a great experience. She was extremely helpful with helping me to tackle my cc debt. Juanita took the time to create a plan of action which is already proving to be very successful. …Thank you so much Juanita.” — Glen, mom from domestic violence situation
“In just one month… Financial Solutions for Women had been a tremendous help in getting me and my finances on the right path!! The advice was practical, doable and sound (advice). I recommend following the plan, learning as much as possible, taking advantage of the products I need and seeing my life change!” — Donna, divorced mom
We helped a woman (former domestic violence victim) recover funds from her renters’ insurance company who originally denied her claim. This woman became homeless with an infant after being displaced following an incident of forced entry, robbery, and a ransacked apartment by her abuser. She contacted us and we told her that we would strongly suggest she challenge the denied claim. We said, “If you’re up for the fight, let’s fight!” We connected her to a Prepaid Legal Plan which granted her access to an attorney who helped write a demand letter for less than $30/mo. The renters’ insurance company responded and reconsidered her original claim. We guided her in itemizing and assessing the damages and loss incurred in monetary terms. She recovered over $12,000 plus an available $8,000 for repurchased items resulting from burglary and property damages committed by her abuser. Recovering these funds helped her a great deal…she is now on the road to rebuilding her finances. — Juanita, financial adviser
